by Nora Roberts
Sonya MacTavish stands at the heart of a generational war within the walls of Poole Manor, a grand, cliffside estate in Maine long shadowed by a lethal curse. Haunted by the tragic history of seven brides whose lives and wedding rings were stolen by a malevolent force, Sonya refuses to let the cycle continue. As the malevolent witch in the black dress intensifies her campaign of terror, blurring the lines between psychological illusion and physical harm, Sonya must decipher the secrets of her ancestors to reclaim her home.
Bolstered by her unwavering partner, Trey, and a loyal circle of friends, Sonya transitions from a victim of the house’s dark legacy to its primary defender. Their bond serves as a lifeline, transforming their shared trauma into a weapon against the darkness. To break the curse, Sonya must navigate the fractured history of the manor, unearthing pockets of long-lost joy to counteract the prevailing sorrow.
As the final showdown looms, the battle spans both the living world and the spectral realm. Sonya must confront her enemy in a high-stakes struggle where fear is the ultimate currency, fighting to secure her future and restore light to the house on the cliff.

AnderssonTrey and Sonya
"I have been reading the books by this author since 1981 and I have never missed one of them. Nor will I. At 82 years old in two months I can only hope she writes faster. She never lets her readers down. I've was waiting for this final book of the Lost Bride Series and it certainly was worth the wait. It is, in my opinion, one of her finest books. I always do my reading in bed at night before turning off the light. It's a great way for me to judge a book. Interesting, stay with it for a while. Not so hot, turn off the light and go to sleep. Brilliant, stay awake and read until sleep wins and I have no choice but to put the book down. I really did not want this book to end and I could not put it down. Sonya is inspiring, independent, sassy and not afraid to take on an ancient, evil witch. She literally made a promise to the lost brides and she was going to keep that promise no matter what. Even if it killed her, and on occasion that didn't seem unlikely to happen. Her best friend, Cleo is a fabulous sidekick. The two male alphas, Owen and Trey, are everything anybody could wish for in masculine backup. Trey takes protecting Sonya very serious and Owen, Sonya's cousin, bites the dust with Cleo. As a foursome with a beat the witch agenda they are awesome together. Honest, I just can't express how much I loved this series ending. Classic Nora Roberts. ["

Sharon BrewerA bit disappointed.
"I have been a Nora Roberts fan for many many years. The first book in this series was awesome. I was a bit disappointed in this last book. It seemed rushed. Not as much suspense not as much...something! I loved the first book..the third...not so much! Still i was glad to conclude the series. ["
