The Dark Is Descending: A Nytefall Novel (Nytefall Trilogy, 3)

by Geneva Lee
Julian Rousseaux sits at the apex of vampire society, possessing unimaginable wealth and an ancient, cold heart. As the eldest of his prestigious lineage, he faces immense pressure to secure a wife during the upcoming social season. He has no interest in the calculated unions of his peers, but his status makes him a primary target for every ambitious socialite in the supernatural elite.
His carefully constructed world tilts when Thea, a struggling human cellist, stumbles into his life. She is everything Julian is not: kind, vulnerable, and dangerously human. After Thea inadvertently witnesses the secrets of the vampire underworld, she becomes a target for those who despise her presence.
To protect her and satisfy his family’s demands, Julian proposes a high-stakes arrangement: a one-year ruse as his lover. In exchange for her cooperation, he offers to erase her mother’s crushing medical debt. As they navigate a decadent world of opulent galas and shadow-filled secrets, the boundary between performance and reality begins to dissolve.
Julian’s family is determined to excise the human element from their circle, and as the danger intensifies, so does a forbidden, all-consuming desire that threatens to unravel everything they both value.
Kiersten CasselDark, Luxurious Vampire Romance with Fake Dating and Fated Mates
"Filthy Rich Vampires is a trope-driven vampire romance that leans into fake dating, fated mates, and complex family dynamics within a dark, high-society setting. The atmosphere stands out, with a strong sense of luxury and danger woven throughout the story. The world of vampire elite feels immersive and consistent, adding to the overall appeal. Julian is portrayed as a powerful and protective character, though at times his behavior can be frustrating. Thea provides a good balance, showing growth and resilience as she adapts to the world around her. Their relationship develops as a slow burn, eventually leading into more intense, high-stakes moments. The story may feel familiar to readers who enjoy series like A Discovery of Witches, particularly in its blend of romance and supernatural politics, though this series places a stronger emphasis on drama and opulence. Overall, this is an engaging and fast-paced read for fans of vampire romance, especially those who enjoy well-known tropes and a more indulgent, dramatic tone. ["

EmbellMy Type of PNR
"51 episodes of a Kindle Vella story, but into a book format. If you enjoy the Vella format, the story continues there; if not, there’s a cliffhanger and the second book is planned for Fall 2022. Vampire and human, forbidden romance, fake relationship, suspense, age gap (though I guess all vampire/human love stories involve an age gap). From the first few chapters I knew I was going to enjoy this. While the author doesn’t follow all of the traditional rules/behaviors of a vampire, the are some explanations as to why weaved into the story. While Julian and Thea’s story isn’t complete, I’m already wanting stories for Jacqueline, Quinn, Sebastian, and Benedict. Just like the author’s Royals and Blacklist series, this story is filled with opulence, beautifully described. Enjoyed all the little details, that bring out the MC’s playful side with each other. The story is beautiful and intriguing, and will suck you in. The story evolves, the characters evolves, there is steam, chemistry, and angst. The reason I gave this 4 instead of five stars are the continuity issues. One moment he ruins her underthings, but next morning she’s wearing them. Little things like that. ["

JuliaRequired Reading for Spooky Season!!
"I normally am not one to read romances. I am a hardcore Fantasy reader who is happy to stay in her fantasy worlds. But Bookstagram has been talking about this book a bit and ya know what, curiosity bit me and I went with it. I read this in one day. Holy cow it was AMAZING. It was the right amout of paranormal and magical surrealism to satisfy my craving for the fantastical mixed with contemporary life set in 2023. The rules of the author’s world is a beautiful take on vampires and witches with a stunning plot that keeps me guessing at every turn. Absolutely brilliant. Geneva Lee’s writing is entertaining and engaging. I was laughing from start to almost finish. We’re not talking about that cliff hanger ending. Every character is alive and vibrant on these pages. They’re easy to love and easy to connect to, even the vampire mother. The dialogue is smart and sassy. The burn is slow and oh so satisfying and the spice is hot hot hot. Geneva Lee has created a alternate version of our world that I would say yes to being apart of without hesitation. ["

MerryoneInteresting but dragged on the couple
"This is book one of three, I believe. It’s interesting but as you read through each chapter there are more roadblocks put in the way of the main couple. It’s tiresome, so I skipped many pages. There has to be a better way than this constant heartbreak that the male vampire must give to his human girlfriend. I feel devastated for her. She tries so hard to give him what she believes is required to have a strong relationship. However the vampire prince continues to hide what she really must do to be with him fully. Read On! ["
