About this book

Prisca is trapped in an impossible alliance. To secure her brother’s safety, she must align herself with Lorian, the infamous Bloodthirsty Prince whose brutal history is inextricably linked to the destruction of her own family. Bound by a desperate bargain, she accompanies him into the treacherous heart of the fae lands, forced to navigate a landscape where every shadow hides a threat and trust is a dangerous luxury.

As King Sabium tightens his grip through a web of lethal manipulation, Prisca realizes that the true monsters are not always the ones with fangs or crowns, but the men who hide their cruelty behind masks of civility. The journey demands everything from her: she must master the arts of blackmail and deceit, burying her grief to prepare for an inevitable war. Between her and Lorian, the tension is a jagged blade—a volatile mix of lingering betrayal and reluctant cooperation.

In a kingdom defined by lies and encroaching darkness, Prisca must decide how much of her soul she is willing to sacrifice to survive. The line between enemy and ally blurs, proving that in this war, the most dangerous weapon is the one pointed at your own heart.

"Stacia Stark's *A Kingdom This Cursed and Empty* offers a gripping dive into a world brimming with political intrigue and high fantasy. This novel stands out for its focus on action and complex character dynamics, making it a thrilling read for fans of epic tales and strategic maneuvering. The story is woven through multiple perspectives, each adding depth to the narrative and allowing readers to fully grasp the intricate layers of deceit and ambition at play. Stark introduces a strong, clever female main character who navigates this treacherous world with wit and resilience. The grumpy and ruthless male counterpart adds tension, creating a dynamic relationship that smolders slowly, offering moments of connection amidst the chaos. What sets this book apart is its focus on action and plot development over romance, making it a refreshing read for those who prefer story-driven narratives. The incorporation of magic lessons and morally grey characters adds complexity, keeping readers on their toes as alliances shift and true intentions are revealed. Stark's ability to create a found family within this tumultuous environment adds warmth and relatability to the story. The sense of camaraderie and loyalty among characters provides a counterbalance to the political machinations and betrayals. The novel builds to a gasp-inducing conclusion, leaving readers eager for more. *A Kingdom This Cursed and Empty* is a masterclass in high fantasy storytelling, combining action, intrigue, and memorable characters in a narrative that refuses to let go. Stark has crafted a world that is as captivating as it is dangerous, and it's a journey worth embarking on for any fantasy enthusiast. ["

Solid romantasy

"A Kingdom this Cursed & Empty by Stacia Stark -Kingdom of Lies Book 2- 4/5⭐️ 3/3🌶️(spice) 1/3🦋(swoon) •My Thoughts• I was excited to make it back to this world especially after the cliffhanger of book 1! It took me a bit to get back into the story but I still enjoyed Prisca’s journey, self discovery and her relationship with Lorian. I think my biggest frustration was their miscommunication which made sense for their characters but also made me want to flick them until they pulled it together. I love the epic-ness of this series and how so much is still unknown with how they’re going to defeat the evil king! The spice took a bit of a jump in this one as well and I found myself wishing for more conversation and depth between our MCs. Still, loved learning more of Lorian’s backstory and enjoyed seeing how they brought out the best in each other. I might have also found another few characters to add to my throat punch on site list. Yay! 😆 ["

READ THIS IF YOUR A ROMANTANSY FAN

"A Kingdom this Cursed and Empty by Stacia Stark Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 I am absolutely LOVING this series! The premise behind it is so unique to me, with the FMC having time magic. Stark does a great job of keeping the readers attention throughout the entire book with the storyline, action, character development, and of course the spice. I felt this book was a builder for book 3, but that doesn’t mean it’s short on action! I loved seeing Prisca grow into her new role as queen and accepting her previous life and circumstances. She’s cunning and strong, but vulnerable and protective. Lorian, Lorian, Lorian 😍 this man is climbing my ladder of book boyfriends FAST. His protectiveness over Prisca is 🔥 and he NEVER coddles her or holds her back, in fact, he is always pushing her to stop wallowing and believe in herself in order to become the queen he knows she is. Their relationship continues to grow throughout the book, even though the world is trying to keep them apart, and I will continue rooting for them! ❤️ This book primarily focused on Prisca gathering allies for the impending war, and her hunt for the magical hour glass of her people, which is why I think it is building to something big in book 3. And I. CAN’T. WAIT. This has been a great series to kick of the 2024 reading year with! Now I just need to buy the physical copies to match my ebooks 😂 ["
