A Court of Thorns and Roses
Sarah J. Maas
by Hans Christian Andersen
Hans Christian Andersen’s timeless collection of fairy tales serves as the foundation for the modern fantasy genre, weaving together themes of longing, transformation, and the high cost of desire. At the heart of this anthology is the iconic story of the Little Mermaid, a subterranean princess who sacrifices her voice and her world for the chance to secure an immortal soul and the love of a human prince. This central conflict—the struggle between one’s true nature and the yearning for a life beyond reach—echoes through other classic narratives, from the icy, isolationist grip of the Snow Queen to the fragile, burgeoning hope of Thumbelina.
This deluxe MinaLima edition reimagines these foundational tales through a visceral, interactive lens. With intricate pop-up elements, rotating dials, and stunning full-color illustrations, the physical book becomes an immersive portal into Andersen’s world. The dynamic between the ethereal, often tragic protagonists and their high-stakes environments creates a haunting atmosphere that transcends generations.
Whether exploring the depths of the ocean or the frozen reaches of the north, these stories remain essential reading for those who appreciate the intersection of dark folklore, poignant romance, and the enduring power of myth.

"I'm buying every single one of these MinaLima illustrated editions because they are BEAUTIFUL. I've seen their art for the things they do with Harry Potter and their Instagram, so when they posted that the latest in this series was Alice in Wonderland, I sought out what else was available. I didn't imagine they'd be on Amazon and didn't imagine they'd be cheap, but I got this for a little over $16. This is SO inexpensive and I would've paid more for it (but since I didn't, I bought two - also got Beauty and the Beast around $12). The whole book is filled with such magically amazing art to go along with the stories and it's entirely throughout. You hardly ever see two pages in a row without something. The interactive elements are fun...I'm not giving this to a child, but they're still whimsical, cute and appreciated. It's stuff like fold out maps, "doors" that you open with mirrors or other images inside. This also has other stories including the Princess and the Pea, the Snow Queen, The Nightingale and a couple of others. The pages themselves it's printed on are nice, smooth and thick. I just can't say enough good things about this book (or the series of them) and would recommend to anyone. They also have The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, The Jungle Book and...I think that's it. I'm not sure if they are doing more or if Alice completes them...but I hope there are many more still to come. Alice just came out so it's higher, I think about $30, but ANY of these would be worth every penny. ["

Mr. Jthe little Mermaid & other tales
"This book is awesome! Sturdy nice hardcover, very nice illustrations. Really cool interactive pop ups in the stories. I love that it's the original story of the little Mermaid and not the disney tale everyone knows. And all the other fairy tales in it are amazing as well. Definitely worth the money and my youngest daughter is totally ecstatic to read all the original tales and everything. Definitely happy to add it to our book collection, and can't wait to get a few more of these style books with the other stories out of the this collection. ["
