"Fin and his found family/kingdom is such a breath of fresh air. I am loving this story so much so far. I love how the author is tying this together and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds. Annika had her plans within plans, and Fin is just holding the country together, whether he realizes it or not. People become attached to him quickly, either through frustration or friendship. I laughed out loud more than once and I have enjoyed the bad guys getting stopped. Now for two more….cruel chuckle… ["

"For the second time, I feel like the book ended suddenly. In book one the ending wrapped up well, yet there was more I wanted to know about. This one doesn't wrap up after as big a moment, so I felt like it wasn't as complete as book one. However, the character development in this book was superb. Each character grew in depth and flavor. It still felt cozy and funny, like the first book, but it also became more serious at times. The section with the queen was heartwrenching and I was not prepared for it. But it was refreshingly high stakes, which you don't often get from cozy fantasy. Overall, this was a very good book 2. I'm eager to read the conclusion to everything in book 3. (And I definitely need more Kraken!) ["

"Romance and humorous go very well together, but mix in magic and it can become predictable and dull. This series is anything but predictable or dull. It introduces a fascinating heroic cook as well as a wide cast of intriguing well written characters. I am picky about witches in literature, I want them to be human. That the magical are well defined and fleshed it is still a surprise to read what happens and how things progress. I loved this book, and really enjoyed book one as well. I’m hopeful that there are more books in this collection as I really do not want to surrender the the cook, the healer or the viscountess. The knights are horrible, but as everything seems to change when Fin, the cook, is involved I ended up liking them as well. Read it, you’ll love visiting the castle and its kitchen. ["
