Forced into the deadly Rising Queen Trial, a desperate young woman finds herself trapped in a lethal game where victory and defeat both spell the end of her freedom. To escape the clutches of the Court of Winter, she must master her burgeoning powers and navigate the treacherous politics of the fae, all while masking her true intentions behind a facade of royal ambition. Her path to liberation is complicated by the persistent, magnetic presence of Crown Prince Norivun.
Though she is determined to resist his allure, the prince begins to peel back his icy exterior, revealing hidden vulnerabilities that ignite an undeniable, dangerous connection between them. As their bond deepens, the stakes shift from simple survival to a volatile entanglement that threatens to unravel the foundation of the kingdom. With dark secrets coming to light and the trial pushing them toward a point of no return, the pair must face devastating consequences that neither could have anticipated.
In a realm defined by frost and shadow, the line between ally and enemy blurs, leaving them to choose between their duty to the throne and the burning, forbidden pull of an impossible future.
Read-Love-Review BlogAmazing Fantasy Romance
"This book continues Ilara and Prince Norivun's story, focusing mainly on their enemy attraction, her supernatural gifts, and political issues in the Winter Court. I love how much more heroic Ilara has become, and the subtle, steamy scenes were also sweet. Some revelations are revealed, and of course, they make this story even more addicting. I'm loving this Fae fantasy romance. What will Ilara do after announcing her new affinities and entrance into the Rising Queen Trails? I love how she seems to be the perfect other half to the Prince. I love that this book picks up right where the last one left off, with the same characters and struggles. Omg, this book would be a fantastic movie; it is so good and has all that delicious angst. With the recent revelation, Prince Norivun becomes much more to Ilara than he was before. I also like that we get to see a different side of him in this story. Although the fierce, possessive protector is swoon-worthy, his cherishing side is panty-melting. Wow, this second book gets steamy as they succumb to their attraction. The trials come, and our action-packed edge-of-your-seat suspense. But unexpectedly, the story gets more complicated. Reading the glossary of terms would be helpful, as now I feel clueless. I didn't expect that for one, like the what the heck, and for two, I didn't anticipate that either. I'm not telling you what it is; I don't want to ruin this action-packed fae fantasy romance for you. But this is an excellent read, even with its political issues. In this last epilogue, we get Prince Norivun's POV, and just wow. That last letter was heart-wrenching. ["

Michelle NeumannGood plot
"Definitely wanted to give it 5 stars just sometimes the ways things were worded made it harder for me to get as emotionally involved as I wanted, it was sometimes silly, corny, or just weird but then other times I loved, so I wanted to absolutely love just couldn't fully, still good though. Definitely suspenseful, and has villains you really get angry at like Georgyanna or the King. Then then heroine you want to root for ["

TaylerA great series so far!
"I have no idea what is in these books but they are so addicting and hard to put down! From the start we picked up right where we left off and the action kept pace all the way through to the end. The stakes were so much higher in this book with so many twists and turns that I did not expect! I have so many questions about certain characters and magical elements of the story and I can't wait to have them all answered in the books to come! Illara is so much more confident and head strong in this book and I found her strength and determination inspiring and am eager to see what she does in the next book. After that ending I am jaw dropped and freaking out and I will be starting book 3 immediately! I'm absolutely hooked on this series! ["

Jodi-AnnBreathtakingly good
"I actually do mean breathtaking. As I ended the epilogue I realized I had stopped breathing as I hoped for another page. Predictable, this book was not. I enjoyed the glimpse into the world. It wasn't a story, but like being teleported into another world , seeing everything like spectators in the bleachers. I am broke but I am going to find a broker level to read that next book. I definitely, wholeheartedly recommend. Thank you Krista Street. Your writing is a gift I truly treasure. Keep growing. ["
