About this book

Ahnna is a commander defined by the scars of her past and the crushing weight of her duty to Ithicana. Haunted by the invasion that left her homeland in ruins, she accepts a strategic marriage to the crown prince of Harendell, viewing the union as the ultimate sacrifice to secure resources for her people. However, the glittering court of Harendell is a viper’s nest of deception, and Ahnna quickly realizes the kingdom’s true intentions may be far more sinister than they appear.

Amidst the treacherous political maneuvering, Ahnna encounters James, the crown prince’s infuriating and detached half brother. While she is tethered to a future with the king-to-be, her undeniable attraction to James creates a dangerous friction that threatens to unravel the fragile peace she is sworn to uphold. As she uncovers the dark underbelly of her new home, Ahnna finds herself caught between the role of a dutiful bride and the lethal instincts of a warrior.

In a race against time and shifting loyalties, she must determine if she can salvage her kingdom through diplomacy or if she must ultimately draw her blade to destroy the very throne she was sent to claim.

5/5

"This installment follows King Aren’s twin sister, Ahnna, and Prince James, and their story completely pulled me in. Danielle L. Jensen created such an intense dynamic between these two from the very beginning. The attraction between them is immediate and undeniable, but what really makes their story shine is everything they have to endure together. The trials they face after meeting — both external conflicts and personal struggles — push their characters in ways that make their connection feel even stronger. Watching them navigate danger, tension, and their own growing feelings kept me completely invested. The chemistry between Ahnna and James is powerful, the stakes feel incredibly high, and the emotional moments land perfectly. This was easily a five-star read for me. By the end, I was on the edge of my seat and immediately ready to dive into the final book in the series. ["

I adore this whole series

"3.75 I just really enjoy this series. And while this was not my favorite book of the series , it was still a really great story. Seeing all the connections across the Bridge Kingdom characters and kingdoms is just awesome. I love seeing all the puzzle pieces come together. Especially seeing Ahnna's development from Aren's twin sister from the first duology to now. My biggest critique would be the romance. I just felt like something was missing between James and Ahnna. There was insta-love but the yearning and burn could have been stronger. Their banter wasn't as good as that of Aren and Kara and Karis and Zara, so I'm hoping that will progress in the final book. Like all the books in this series, the twists and turns are superb and keep you engaged and guessing the whole time! Although the end was frustrating, it's definitely setting up for the finale to be epic. I can't wait to dive right into the last book of this series as it releases tomorrow! ["

Loved this book and series

"I absolutely loved this book—and honestly, I’m loving the series more with each installment. Twisted Throne takes everything I enjoyed from the earlier books (the tension, the political scheming, the slow-burn romance) and raises the stakes in such a satisfying way. What really worked for me was how the world keeps expanding. We see more of the kingdoms, more tangled alliances, and more of the high-stakes danger that makes this series so addictive. The pacing is sharp, the twists are unexpected, and the emotional beats hit exactly where they should. I especially enjoyed how the characters are forced to grow, question their loyalties, and face choices that have real consequences. Danielle L. Jensen blends fantasy, intrigue, and romance so seamlessly—it’s the kind of book that has you saying “just one more chapter” until you realize it’s 2 a.m. For me, Twisted Throne cemented this series as a new favorite, and I can’t wait to keep going. Amazing story and writing

"I never get tired of Danielle Jensen's writing. It's unique and so crystal clear. It's been awhile since I read the first 4 books and this one made me want to go back to the beginning and read them all over again. I'm truly obsessed with this whole series. As for this book, WOW. It's a unique plot. It has twists and turns and I found myself really immersed in the book right away. Obviously love Lara and Aren, but you see them from a different perspective now and how even though they had a "happy ending" not everyone sees it that way. But damn this book was good. Can't wait for the next one. I am hoping ahanna gets her "happy" ending. I was impressed when the King's ideas and manipulations were explained it almost had you saying "YAS FINALLY HAPPILY EVER AFTER" but of course the book can't end like that yet. So plot twist, they gotta get through the mud and the up hill climb to their happy-ish ending. ["
