"The story was good. It wasn’t the best fantasy story out there because it felt like a modern day Love is Blind (first book) meets Mr and Mrs Smith (second book) with some fantasy stuff thrown in. It genuinely felt like I was reading an assassin novel that didn’t do well so the author changed some characteristics of the key players and put it back out as a fantasy. The social media ads for this book reference 2 pages at the 98% mark of this 800 page story. Lastly, the author’s writing left me feeling uninspired. There was an air of elevated vocabulary but when mixed with everything else made I’d feel like someone used ChatGPT or a thesaurus to make it seem more educated. I’m a harsh critic and I will DNF books quickly if I feel it’s lacking in areas or really overplayed in other areas. I didn’t DNF this one so that’s why I’m giving it 3 stars. It’s a good story just not great. ["
