The Book of Azrael: Gods and Monsters, Book 1
Amber V. Nicole
by David Reed
Bobby Singer stands at a desperate crossroads. With his memory fading rapidly due to a supernatural affliction, the grizzled veteran hunter faces his final twenty-four hours. Rather than succumbing to the encroaching darkness, he commits his life’s work to the page, crafting a definitive manual for the survival of those he leaves behind.
This is more than a tactical guide; it is a raw, unflinching testament to a life spent in the shadows. As Bobby chronicles the habits, weaknesses, and lore of the monsters that plague humanity, the narrative weaves together practical survival strategies with the personal history of a man who has sacrificed everything for the greater good. He writes with a singular purpose: to ensure that Sam and Dean Winchester, along with the next generation of hunters, possess the knowledge required to endure the terrors he has battled for decades.
Through sharp wit and deep-seated resolve, Bobby bridges the gap between a cold, lethal reality and the legacy of a mentor who refuses to be forgotten. This account serves as both a weapon against the night and a final, poignant reflection on a life defined by duty, loss, and an unbreakable bond with his surrogate sons.
Jenelle's Honest ThoughtsPerfect for learning about obscure monsters in supernatural for fanfiction!
"OK, I bought this to help me write fanfiction and it’s been great. I am a super fan on the down low and I know a lot about supernatural in my head, but there’s a difference between knowing a lot about the show and knowing a lot about supernatural creatures and when I want my characters in my fanfiction to go on hunts and I don’t want it to be just normal Like vampire hunts or demons I wanna get one of those obscure monsters from the show. This is the perfect book for that. Also, it’s just a really good book. I have bought a lot of books for fanfiction Help and I’ve spent a crazy amount of money on some of these books but for the price this is the best book I’ve got. ["

Ficwriter1966OutSTANDING.
"I was told by a friend whose opinion I trust that I *had* to buy this book - and I'm so glad I did! I've read all the Supernatural tie-in works and have had mixed opinions about them; they've ranged from outright horrible to good, solid fun. This one is the first tie-in that actually moved me to tears. (And yes, in a good way.) Mr. Reed has Bobby's voice nailed - you can truly hear Jim Beaver speaking as you read. The book's premise is, something that happened during a case is causing Bobby to lose his memory, so he's writing everything down "just in case." Some of the material we're familiar with from having seen it happen on the show, or mentioned in passing; there's also fresh, new backstory, including a couple of Bobby's early cases, told in a way that keeps the reader urgently turning pages to find out what happens next. All the important relationships in Bobby's life are explored: his late wife, Rufus, the Winchesters, and it all feels very *real*. As a bonus, the last couple of chapters are narrated by Dean, and Mr. Reed has his voice down pat as well. The only fault I can find with the book (if you can call it a fault) is that it's short, and a very fast read. I devoured it in a couple of hours, and I wish it had gone on much longer. If you're looking for a Supernatural book that's well worth the price, it's this one. A definite two thumbs up! ["

Amanda SmithThis book is absolutely adorable.
"Bobby is one of my favorite characters in the series, and I feel like this book captured his voice almost perfectly, and in the spots that were just "almost", I forgave it pretty readily. It explained certain things about Bobby and his past, and it broke my heart and made me laugh and I was utterly pleased. There are lots of pictures in it, which is thrilling to me. They make it a treat to read. I love the way the cover is designed too, it looks nice and the text and picture are shiny and slightly raised, so I like to stare at it and run my fingers over it (but I'm easily amused). ====SLIGHT SPOILERS!==== Now, because I've seen season 7, I initially thought this book was about a different "24 hours to live" than it is (book takes place at the end of season 6), which made the explanation of what's going on confusing to the point of shock for me. On the second read through, everything made much more sense. This would not have been an issue if season 7 had not gone like it had, probably. There are a few things in this book that clash with an episode in season 7, but if you wiggle around somewhere between the book and the episode, you might be able to find a nice medium between the two like I did, and I'm satisfied with that. Also, the two chapters are not told from Bobby's point of view, and I believe that while the author's Bobby Singer voice is actually very good, the voice for the character point of view in those two chapters is fairly lacking. ===================== ["

P. HortonA must read for any Bobby Singer fan!!
"With three children at home, I find that I pick and choose what I read carefully, as my "me time" is precious. This book didn't disappoint me in any way. It's truly a treat for any Bobby Singer/Supernatural fan as it delves behind the man and gives us a look at his life and past that we haven't been privvy to before. The book itself is written as though Bobby is writing it just for us, laying out tips for hunting and telling us stories of his past, all to try and salvage what is left of his memories. It seems something attacked Bobby while he was on a hunt and now writing down everything he knows is the only way to piece together what happened to him and see if he can save himself in time. The book was an easy read and was informative, as well as made me laugh out loud with some of his comments. If you've even wondered what makes Bobby Singer the man he is and who he was before we saw him on the show? This is the book you need to get your hands on. Don't be an idjit, grab a copy today!!! ["
