The Poison Daughter
Sheila Masterson
by Melissa Roehrich
Scarlett Monrhoe is a prisoner in a gilded cage, held captive within the treacherous Fire Court by the very man who murdered her mother. Surrounded by Fae nobility she despises, Scarlett must navigate a lethal political landscape where her survival depends on her ability to outmaneuver the Prince of Fire. While she plots his downfall, a volatile spark of attraction complicates her mission, forcing her to confront whether she will dismantle him or lose herself to the dark magnetism between them.
Meanwhile, the threat beyond the court walls intensifies. As the Fae Queen maneuvers to claim her, the mortal Crown Prince Callan risks everything to rescue the woman he loves. Back home, allies race against time to track Scarlett’s location, uncovering buried secrets that threaten to rewrite the history of their world.
With the stars fading and shadows closing in, the line between ally and enemy blurs. Scarlett must untangle a web of ancient lies and navigate a perilous journey through kingdoms far more terrifying than her current prison. In this high-stakes game of power and vengeance, every choice brings her closer to either her liberation or her ultimate destruction.
Flirty for FictionLady of Shadows raises the stakes in every direction!
"As political tensions sharpen and hidden truths begin to surface, Scarlett must navigate shifting alliances, painful betrayals, and the growing realization that every answer comes with a cost. The story builds toward a shocking, high-stakes ending that truly pulls the rug out from under you. This installment deepens the found family dynamics while testing those bonds under pressure. The slow-burn romance grows more fragile and emotionally charged, layered with trust issues but full of promise. Revelations don’t bring relief, but instead bring consequences. If book one set the stage, Lady of Shadows proves that secrets always come due, delivering heavier emotions and sharper fallout that make continuing the series impossible to resist. ["

Kelly J NickAmazing World Building!
"4.5 stars! This book easily surpasses the first. The world building is explosive. So many new characters are introduced. We get back story for new characters and for the previously established characters. Visits are made to the Fire Court, Earth Court, The White Halls, and the Water Court. Secrets are revealed and we end with even more questions than we started with. So much happens in this book that it is difficult to imagine how it could all possibly be resolved. Excellent pacing and an awesome read! ["

MaddogGood read.
"The characters are well developed. The plot line is fairly clear. There are some real life interactions and age appropriate material to be considered. The one annoying factor is how the powerful central character gets repeatedly dominated by the antagonists in the story by making poor decisions. Makes you ponder why she has not enthralled yet to the prime antagonist. Otherwise a good read minus the book price in today’s economic market. ["

Caitlyn TaylorSo many Secrets!
"I could not put this book down. If there is one thing I love in fantasy books, it’s uncovering secrets. And this book was full of that. Scarlett definitely grew over this book as well, which I loved because I was ready for her to really tap into the bad ass we know she is. While I was frustrated with her for not figuring things out sooner, her growth to get there was worth it. I really enjoyed all the new characters and found family in this book. I love the banter between them all and I especially love the connection that Scarlet and Eliza have. I did almost through my kindle when Sorin did what he did, but again I think it was necessary for the story. And I love him so much. That ending! Will Sorin feel betrayed? What’s going to happen with Scarlett? Does Talwynn know she has a twin flame? How is she going to get out of this? Ahhhh! I must keep going. I can’t wait to find out. ["
