About this book

Silla Nordvig has survived the harrowing Road of Bones, but her escape from Kopa brings no reprieve. Fleeing alongside the ruthless Reynir Galtung, Silla finds herself sequestered in a remote shield-home with the very man she once feared. As she grapples with the volatile magic awakening within her and the crushing weight of her true identity, she must navigate a dangerous intimacy with Reynir, whose own carefully guarded secrets threaten to undo their fragile alliance.

Silla’s priority remains the rescue of her sister, but her journey toward power demands she first conquer the darkness festering in her own soul. Across the kingdom, Saga Volsik plots a desperate rebellion against the usurpers who slaughtered her kin and claimed her throne. Her path to vengeance is complicated by a persistent Zagadkian dignitary who sees through her carefully constructed facade, forcing her to confront a man who knows far too much.

As ancient, forbidden magic stirs throughout Íseldur, the political landscape shifts beneath their feet. With enemies turning into unlikely lovers and shadow-drenched secrets coming to light, Silla and Saga must embrace their destinies before the encroaching chaos consumes the realm entirely.

God Tier Series!!

"Kingdom of Claw is the 2nd book in what appears to be a God Tier series; The Ashen Series by Demi Winter. The amount of times I had to put the book down, to only pick it back up again because I needed to know what came next was insane!!!!! This book is Unputdownable!!! I devoured it in under 24 hrs!!! I did immersive reading (audiobook and Kindle) and the experience was amazing!!!! The narrator was spectacular!!! The story is brilliant! The plot is getting so twisty and strong is insane!!! The romance in this book was so perfect I’m a little afraid to read book 3 because I don’t know what to expect, except for this knowing feeling that things usually get all kinds of messed up just when you think they are perfect. We will see. The way I connected with the characters, their feelings was incredible; it had me sobbing and cackling with them throughout the whole book!! The teasing and banter amongst the characters was awesome, hilarious, intense, sweet but the sense of humor was one of my favorite things here. I was not expecting such good comebacks. How trauma is presented and the reality of how certain things feel, was so important and was handled and written so well by Demi Winters, I’m awestruck. It hits all the feelings. This book, just like book 1, felt so good. 1000% would recommend. If you haven’t read this series, pleeeaaaseeeeee go read it now! It’s amazing, unique; love the Vikings vibe here! There’s a part that felt very Frozen (Disney movie) but darker and mixed with The Witcher! Utter perfection!! I think this series will become one of my absolute favorites, dare I say Ever. ["

Not better than book 1, but still have hope for the series

"After everything that went down in book one, Silla is on the run and hiding with Rey. We really get to see her grow, learn to work her galdur—her magic—and see the way her relationship with Rey evolves. We also get some more background on other characters which enrichens the story. I really missed the found-family vibe from book one. Fingers crossed we get some kind of reunion soon because that dynamic was everything. The absolute highlight for me in this book, though? Saga’s point of view. Honestly, she stole the show—I felt more for Saga than for Silla in this book. Her storyline with Rurik was giving me life and it’s a couple I can totally root for. I cannot wait to see more of that relationship develop. That said, the middle of this book dragged a bit for me and felt kind of repetitive. I think it could have been a little tighter. But the last 25%? Fast-paced, action-packed, and full of revelations that have me worried for these girls. The ending was great—not a cliffhanger or anything, but it definitely sets up book three, which I will 100% be reading when it comes out next year. ["

Beautiful Epic Fantasy!

"Story: 5 ⭐ Spice: Mid, open door, explicit but a lot less than the first book. Narration: 5 ⭐ Amazing performance by Islay Jacobs. She really captivated the essence of this epic fantasy book and brought it to life in my ears. Cue, applause! This is read in a single narration with multiple POVs. I'm not sure if it's even possible but I loved this book more than book 1 and that book was perfect. I've waiting too long to write my review for this book and now its weaving into book 3.... so forgive me, and hopefully I don't get anything mixed up. Silla is just an amazing FMC. I love her demeanor. How she's so kind and humble but fights all her inner demons. She just an overcomer and an amazing representation of a women and I'm so proud of her. OMG the longing in the book with Rey.. and then we get introduced to Cas for a secondary love story and I think he is my favorite until the ending when I want to throat punch him. This world is amazing and so thought out by Demi. There is heavy world building throughout the series but it's not overwhelming. Demi does a great job at intermingling it with the plot. You don't feel lost or bored. You fall in love with characters and want to know what's going to happen consistently. Jonas, you're worse than Tamlin. ["

What a stunning sequel!

"MINDBLOWN. This series has fast become one of my favorite fantasy romance series OF ALL TIME. Saga's story gripped me like a vice from the second she was introduced. The addition of her POV added much more dimension to the overarching plot as we get more insight into those who killed her and Silla's parents...and just how far they'd push the boundaries of nature and order in their vile thirst for power. The way Demi portrays anxiety and its manifestation due to the severe trauma that Saga has endured under the grip of the Urkans was so heart-wrenching and executed flawlessly. Kassandr and Saga's dynamic had me yearning for more of their interactions every time I finished a scene with them in it! Every back and forth, every Zagadkian phrase he mistranslated, every stolen moment, every time he called her "Winterwing", and every time he pushed her to burn and break through the docile shell she was forced to adorn....I was MELTING. The end reveal had me reeling and I cannot wait to see how their shifted dynamic plays out in the next book! As always, I loved being back with Silla and Rey. The slow transition in their relationship was a treat to watch. He's always said he doesn't have a way with words, but Rey's actions never miss when it comes to showing how much he cares for Silla. I love how they are both what each other sorely needs - Rey with his unwavering confidence in Silla and Silla who will always stand at Rey's side. Their moments in this book were soooo sweet that I was highlighting like crazy! It was also fascinating to learn more about Silla's abilities and just how powerful she is when she believes in herself. We get some interesting developments (that have left me with more questions!) as well as some beautiful moments between the sisters. I also really enjoyed the creative decision to keep Jonas's POV in this book... it made for such an engaging reading experience, especially seeing how all the moving plot threads from each of the key POVs interacted and came together! Anyways... READ THIS SERIES! ["
