About this book

Twelve years after fleeing a ruinous crime scene, Ember Cutler—now known only as Bones—has carved out a fragile existence in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Her carefully constructed life shatters when her brother abducts her at gunpoint, thrusting her into the orbit of Wolf, a ruthless bounty hunter, and his lethal crew. Among them is Mac, a man whose presence complicates Bones’s survival as the lines between captor and ally begin to dissolve.

As Bones is pulled back into the violent history she desperately tried to bury, she discovers that her past is not the only thing hunting her. Her latent, evolving magic has drawn the attention of ancient, indifferent gods, placing a target on her back that threatens to reshape the world. Trapped between the trauma of her upbringing and the terrifying potential of her own power, Bones must navigate a landscape where loyalty is a liability and every alliance is forged in blood.

In this high-stakes struggle for identity, she must decide if she will remain a pawn in a divine game or embrace the dangerous strength that could destroy everything she has fought to protect.

5 Star Book Review

"Book Review: Fangs (Bones #2) by K.L. Speer My Rating: ♾️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️♾️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️ Emotional Damage: ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️ Originality : 🖊️🖊️🖊️🖊️🖊️ Writing: 🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀 Entertainment Value: 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 Recommendation: Wow - yes read. I didn’t think I was going to find another infinite star read this year after Alchemised, but I was completely blown away. Fangs surpassed every expectation I had, and I did not think Speer could outdo Bones, but this sequel proved me so incredibly wrong. If you are looking for emotional depth, heart-wrenching storytelling, and relationships that feel real and earned, this is it. Genre: Dystopian Fiction / Traumantasy Blurb: A grief-stricken woman with a haunted past must navigate a web of lies, shifting loyalties, and emerging magical powers to discover who she truly is and where her redemption lies. **CAUTION - READING ON MAY INCLUDE SPOILERS** Likes: Everything about the writing was exceptional. Speer captured every emotion with precision, making every moment hit hard and feel genuine. The character growth, especially between Em and Wolf, was both painful and heartwarming. The evolving romances (Lee - hot; Mac - ugh so endgame), were captivating. Every layer of the story felt purposeful and emotionally rich. Dislikes: I could go on about every single detail, but the truth is simple: I loved everything about this book. There was nothing I disliked. Fangs was storytelling at its absolute finest, and I could not recommend it more. ["

IT KEEPS GETTING BETTER!!!

""Run, lil rabbit, before Wolf tears you apart." Now that Bones' brother has come to take her home she is struggling to prove her innocence while dealing with debilitating grief. Bones tries to untangle who she is now from her trauma with help from Mac and her crew. But the gods have taken notice of her and the line between ally and enemy begins to blur. After the first book I wasn't sure Bones could handle much more, but wow, she was forced to confront her demons from her past and present in this book. I love how her relationships grew with her own crew members along with the complicated ones with the Fangs. As a healer, she keeps wanting to put everyone's health/safety over her own and it definitely put her in scary situations! In this book we are given hints about what's to come and I can't wait! As always, check TW before reading. Read if you love: -Dark Post Apocalyptic Romantasy -Found Family -Grief -Magic Powers -Religious Trauma 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 ["

Redemption, Triumph, & Apprehension

"OH BOY WHERE TO BEGIN. First off, I’m finally leaving a review after my SECOND time reading this book THIS YEAR. But this work of art deserved a review after the first read. We’ve got even MORE of an exploration of the beloved “found family” trope. And not only that, we get to see the heartbreakingly beautiful redemption of a BLOOD FAMILY relationship. Ember’s journey of healing continues when she is kidnapped by her brother, Wolf, after 12+ years of separation. The topics and emotions and events are so. UTTERLY. RAW. And wrought with pain. But it all ultimately ends in triumph over trauma AND over the lies about the value of life cruelly drilled into Ember’s mind, heart, and soul. But not only do we get a continuation of the sweetness we experienced in “Bones,” KL Speer also introduces more mysterious, ominous, and fantastical elements of the world After. We learn more about the Voiceless and Ember’s mysterious “magic” — this was honestly incredibly well done!! I thought it CLEVER how Speer brings us along Ember’s own discovery of the world around her, explaining her ignorance of her own world and history by tightly weaving the reason in with her past abuse. It made sense why Ember—and therefore, us as the reader—had no concept of who exactly the Voiceless were (beyond creepy zealots) and what they were after and WHY they were so interested in Bones. This absolutely paved the way for what I imagine we’ll discovery alongside Ember in book three—AND I CANNOT WAIT. I loved the perfect balance of dread and longing that Speer left us with at the end (iykyk) and I fear I may be a bit of an addict. I am BESIDE MYSELF waiting for book three (I believe it’s been titled, “Ashes” … ) and am all the more convinced of WHO is Ember’s end game (YOU’RE KILLING ME, KL SPEER). ["
