About this book

In the kingdom of Joveryn, magic is a death sentence, forcing Bronwen and her twin brother to live as fugitives. To survive, Bronwen exploits her rare ability to siphon power, hunting vampires to fuel her own forbidden magic. Her life of calculated predation shatters, however, when she targets a vampire who refuses to perish.

Instead of dying, he survives and marks her, tethering their souls together in an agonizing, involuntary bond. Suddenly, Bronwen is haunted by the spectral memories of his past victims, forced to experience their final moments as the lines between hunter and prey blur. The vampire is no longer merely a monster to be drained; he is a complex, enigmatic entity whose true nature challenges everything Bronwen believes about her world.

As their fates intertwine, the pressure from the kingdom’s witch-hunters mounts, forcing her to confront a dangerous choice. She must decide whether to destroy the creature who has irrevocably claimed her or to form an alliance that could dismantle the very structures of Joveryn. This slow-burn romance explores the dark chemistry between two lethal beings caught in a lethal trap, where trust is a liability and betrayal is a heartbeat away.

Love the characters

"I loved this book. I didn't think I'd love a book more than the first but these two definitely beat that! The banter and connection can't be beat! Ready to see what the next book has in-store! ["

Good Prequel, NO HEA, ends on a cliffhanger

"Let's start with the fact that it says this book is the second book in the War of Her Heart series but its honestly a prequel. There's nothing wrong with this but I will say I was a little disappointed. Onto the book itself I really enjoyed it but I did feel like it was a really slow start. It took me a while to finish reading I would say it took me about a month to get 70% of the book and thats when I felt it started to pick up and I was able to finish the rest of the book in two days. I honestly loved the character development, and overall compilation of the book. There is no HEA (happily-ever-after) which wasn't a problem for me but if you're a reader who loves a HEA I would wait for the next book in Bronwen's series because this book ends on a crazy cliffhanger. The FMC is everything, I loved her in War of Her Heart and I love her even more after this book. Both books are for sure worth the read but again this is NOT the second book in the War of Her Heart series it's a prequel so you won't get any info about any of the characters from the first book other than Bronwen and Adar. Again, it's interesting and I like the characters, and the story even though I felt like it was slow to start but the story is not what it's advertised to be. ["

Good story but *NOT* a romance

"Gosh, I struggle with how to rate this book. If it wasn't billed and heavily marketed as a romance, my rating would be higher. It's a great addition to the series (it's really a prequel and not book two of the series) and the writing, character development, and overall compilation of the book is a huge improvement from book one (which was an entertaining read). BUT - it's not a romance. There is no happily-ever-after or even "happy for now" for the couple. ***Spoilers*** The book ends with the main couple broken up after they murdered one another's parents. This isn't a romance - it's a fiction book with love interests that hate one another at the end of the story. It bugs me that this is being advertised and marketed as a romance, because you finish the book feeling like you've been bait-and-switched. Again, it's interesting and I like the characters, but the story is not what it's advertised to be. ["
