Absolute Demon (Hollows Book 19)
Kim Harrison
by Holly Roberds
Goldie is finished with men. After swearing off the male species entirely, she retreats to a crumbling Victorian mansion she has unexpectedly inherited, hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she finds herself living next door to a rugged alpha bear shifter with a dominant personality and a deep-seated grudge against her sunny disposition.
The situation spirals into chaos when the shifter moves in with his two baggage-laden brothers, turning Goldie’s new life into a whirlwind of supernatural friction. Despite her vow of celibacy, Goldie discovers the unsettling, recurring habit of waking up in their beds—a mystery that only fuels the volatile tension between her and her grumpy neighbor. As they engage in a heated feud that threatens the very foundation of her home, a deeper, more sinister threat emerges from the shadows of their overlapping worlds.
Bound by proximity and forced into an uneasy alliance, Goldie and her shifter neighbor must navigate the razor-thin line between mutual hatred and explosive attraction. To survive the encroaching darkness, they are forced to confront their desires and decide if their rivalry is the only thing standing between them and total destruction.

CemberThe Irony & Love
"After seeing a reel about this story, I can't deny my curiosity. There have been so many alternate tales of The Little Mermaid, Beauty & The Beast, ect. But one of mischievous Goldilocks and the Three Bears, I just couldn't pass it up! There was certainly some elements of the tale I read as a girl, but they twisted into things I didn't expect. Giving me a different view on how a story made for children could turn into a wonderfully satisfying adventure for an adult, was icing on the cake. There was so many things I loved about this book. 1) Ted and Goldie's banter was funny, adorable, and down right heated. Seeing how these two strangers, who have a habit of trying to please others in different intensities, learn boundries and fall for eachother 🥰 2) Snow, Red, Rep, & Cinder weren't the main focus in the story, but they were amazing friends. I hope there will be a story for each of them as well (Red has hers and Cinder's is on the way). I am happy that they are involved enough in the story , which leaves me yearning for more of these unique versions of my childhood. 3) Seeing Goldie come to terms that she was stronger than her trauma that she had since she was 12. To watch her take the steps she needed to heal and accept herself fully as the amazing girl she was 👏 The only thing I didn't like was some grammar dilemmas. It was very few and far in between, but they were at some important moments, and it threw me off, trying to decipher what motion was taking place. Oh, how I look forward to getting my hands on more of Holly Roberds books! ["

Marissa WilsonAn Excellent Retelling
"I thoroughly enjoyed this retelling, I could barely put it down and when I slept I found myself dreaming what would happen next as my brain tried to solve/plan the next steps. When Goldie (our self proclaimed Barbie- we love her) inherits a Victorian after a visit to the Pumpkin Club (in the bonus epilogue of Tasting Red) she meets her stick in the mud neighbor, Ted. In true Goldie fashion, she is determined to kill him with kindness (metaphorically only). When she swears of men forever and they're suddenly jumping at the bit for her attention, why is she drawn to the man that wants nothing to do with her? The characters in this book are so well written. They're emotions, thoughts, and responses are so genuinely human. They are as human as humans can get. Goldie is so full of love and expression it was borderline infectious. My thoughts, feelings, and experiences made me feel like Goldie- I've been Goldie more times than I can count. It made the story more personable. As an older sibling, I've been Ted. He wears the weight of the world and would do it for his pack (and does). His natural inclination to protect himself and Goldie (for reasonable reason) makes sense. Not only is it his nature, but it's a response that many of us share. This retelling takes place in our world alongside various fae creatures. It doesn't keep to the story exactly, and I'm glad it doesn't, because I like this version better. The events of the story play out in a way that meets the narrative of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, but in a way that is completely and authentically Goldie. This retelling has darker events/themes occuring to the characters including stalking and harassment. You'll feel the anxiety and shock alongside our characters, but do not fret, we still have our guaranteed happily ever after! ["

Trish McCarthyGoldie & Ted
"The retelling of Goldilocks and the three bears. Goldie must decide which bed is the comfiest. Not giving any spoilers but is not a why choose romance. This spicy adventure with a dirty talking Teddy bear. Goldie is a girl who is picked on about her weight. She owns it and embraces her size. She still has insecurities and wants everyone to love her. She is the sweet, flirty, and a true friend. She inherits her aunts house which leads her to her NFH (neighbor from hell). And she just swore off men. “You are capable. You are enough. And you don’t need a man.” Ted the bear shifter wants to just be left alone. He raised his two younger brothers and even though they are a pain in the a@@, you gotta love them especially Eli. Goldie does not make it easy for him to ignore her especially with her pink cake. “Only one person could be this evil, despicable, and saccharine sweet all at the same time. The frothy pink cream puff of doom.” I loved the references to other fairytales. And my new favorite words are witchtits and faelords, a great alternative to my other favorite word. ["
