About this book

In the bustling realm of Adenashire, human baker Arleta Starstone crafts extraordinary pastries infused with delicate apothecary herbs, a unique talent that remains largely overshadowed by the magical prowess of her elvish and dwarven neighbors. When her well-meaning orc neighbor secretly registers her for the prestigious Langheim Baking Battle, Arleta is thrust into a high-stakes competition that threatens to expose her lack of inherent magic to a skeptical elite. To navigate the cutthroat world of magical culinary arts, Arleta reluctantly accepts the assistance of a captivating woodland elf.

As they embark on a journey toward Langheim, the tension between them simmers, fueled by shared secrets and the intoxicating aroma of rising dough. Arleta finds herself balancing the pressure of the competition against a newfound sense of self-worth. Surrounded by heartwarming friendships and the sensory delights of a gaslamp-inspired world, she must determine if the ultimate prize is the victory itself or the unexpected path she is carving through a land that never believed she belonged.

In a race against master bakers and societal expectations, Arleta discovers that her greatest strength may not be magic at all, but the courage to trust in her own craft.

I will read this again and again.

"This book is a Cozy Fantasy, full of Self-Discovery, Found Family, A Dash of Romance, Magic vs. Magicless, and a High-Stakes Baking Battle. Arleta is human—meaning she’s magicless—but that doesn’t stop her from getting swept into a high-stakes, magic-filled baking competition. Along the way, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery, forges deep friendships, and learns what truly matters in life. This book is the perfect curl up with a cup of tea and a blanket read! Imagine The Great British Bake Off—but with magic, and even higher stakes. (And yes, The Bake Off is one of my favorite shows ever!) The baking battles kept me on the edge of my seat, and the best part? The book includes three actual recipes! I totally plan to try them all but I’m looking forward to the Earl Grey Cherry Scones the most. I would recommend this book to anyone and will be getting lost in Adenashire over and over again. This is the first book in the Adenashire Series. ["

Easy to love

"This was such a cozy, comforting read and exactly what I was in the mood for. The mix of baking, magic, and found-family vibes is done really well, and it pulls you in without being heavy or stressful. I found myself genuinely looking forward to picking it back up. Warm, charming, and just an easy book to love. I’ll definitely continue the series. ["

Fully Recommend!

"I purchased the first three in this series all at once, and I think it was one of my better decisions of 2025. I just finished this last night and it was everything I could have hoped for. If you want something that leaves you feeling the same way that a warm blanket in front of a fireplace with a perfect cup of tea leaves you feeling, this is it. The author has built a world that I wish to dive in to. I loved the characters and the relationships they share with each other. If I could pick any fantasy/book world to live in, I think this one might be it. I truly recommend this for anyone who enjoys feel-good books and vibes. I am immediately jumping in to the second one today. Oh! And it has 3 recipes in the back of the book that I will be attempting to make as soon as I gather the ingredients. ["

Cute story but why does this girl thing the world is out to get her

"Fits the bill as cozy and wrapping everything up happily and the love interest is the sweetest elf ever, but I got tired of the main character not having confidence in herself in spite of being a successful baker and having the support of her neighbors. And later being supported by her three new friends. I think that the author could have given us more of her backstory to help us believe that she has reason for her reactions or allowed us to see mid story progress in her character arc. As the story is written there is just a whining or scared young woman who has this big epiphany at the end. Honestly, if I didn’t expect a cozy ending, I would have put the book down halfway through Pros — interesting world, side characters become devoted friends, baking recipes at the end of the book Cons — main character is pretty flat and clueless ["
